On the rainy April night, the exquisite performance of Hey Jude played by saxophone unveiled the 4th International Youth Talk, which was held by The Overseas Education College and The International College. The audience’s passion was not affected by the drizzle at all. Teachers and students from home and abroad had already gathered in the auditorium located in B102 Kunluan Building.

Overseas students from Indonesia, Germany, Tajikistan, Belarus, Japan, Turkmenistan and Sudan sat together and shared their opinions on the roundtable discussion involving topics like parents, filial piety, expenditure on lovers and interpersonal relationship, and living in China. Different views can been spotted from the students’ communication. They shared their opinions on various heated topics, such as how to get along with parents, their understanding of filial piety, whether the wechat moments should be blocked from parents, the custom of wedding gifts (e.g. red envelope) and their will to stay in China. Their proficiency on Chinese gained the audience’s and compliment and admiration.

Shaqirui from Belarus sang a melodious Chinese-style song “Zhi Fou Zhi Fou” with a Chinese student, which brought the audience back to ancient times. After that, the Hip-pop girls brought a full-fledged dancing show to audience, bringing them back to modern times again. The Sudanese boy Mu Dawei presented his own rap performance before Shaqi Rui singing the original Russian love song. These well-prepared performances created a warm and pleasant atmosphere for the audience. Ma Junyao from Malaysia shared the climate, architecture, culture and food in his country with the classmates. He even distributed the biscuits produced in Malaysia to the audience, making his invitation of asking audience to visit Malaysia more sincere.

As one of most popular overseas students activities, “International Youth Talk” has been held for four times. This activity has enhanced the friendship between Chinese and overseas students, as well as deepened their mutual understanding. Nowadays, exchange between China and foreign countries has become much more frequent than before. On the road of building cultural self-confidence, students need to broaden their horizons and understand the cultural etiquette and life attitude of foreign countries. The College has always strived to facilitate educational and cultural exchange and cooperation among different countries and has committed to cultivating international and all-round talents for our country. Our college’s mission has been well reflected from activities such as “International Youth Talk” which provides an excellent platform for students from home and abroad to exchange their ideas. Through this activity, more students can learn about the cultural difference, broaden their horizon.
