A few days ago, the Academic Affairs Office of Xiamen University announced the list of the first batch of college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training programs for 2019. All 35 projects applied for by the International College have been approved: 3 projects have been proposed to be approved at the national level, 4 projects have been proposed to be approved at the provincial level, 11 projects have been approved at the school level, and 17 projects have been approved at the college level. The total number of projects has increased significantly since last year, creating a new record.

Under the guiding principle of continuously strengthening educational reform in innovation and entrepreneurship, the management staff at the International College attach great importance to college students’work in those two areas and are increasing efforts to encourage and guide teachers and students in actively  participating in public entrepreneurship and innovation. As a result, teachers and students have become significantly more enthusiastic about participating in science and technology competitions and students have become considerably more innovative. Out of the 35 projects proposed in this project, some focus on social hot topics, such as “Internet Plus”and sharing economy. For example, one project is on a  model  of home-based care for the elderly  in the sharing economy and another is an investigation and analysis of the state of Xiamen public transportation and a  strategy for improving it in the context of“Internet Plus”. Some projects focus on national policies such as precision poverty alleviation and green finance. Taking Zhao'an County as an example, a project in this area investigates the current situation of precision poverty alleviation and its prospects for future development. Another project explores China's green finance development model. Or in Zhejiang Province, some projects closely follow the most recent developments of the field, such as the Peter Pan network, which is research concerned with construction on the purchasing credit evaluation platform based on the new“E-Commerce Law, the affect of implementing new accounting standards on business accounting, as well as counter strategies for companies to adapt. Others are local to campus and provide service platforms for college students. Two projects include research on the construction of a campus information platform for college students' hometown specialty products and the“A Goose”university information cooperation platform. The projects mentioned above are all innovative, exploratory and practical.

In his response to the students apart of the“Journey Towards Building a Red Dream for the Youth”event at the third Chinese“Internet +”University Student Innovation and Enterprise competition, General Secretary Xi Jin Ping wrote, The young generation of China has ideals, pursuits and commitments, so there is an endless amount of energy to bring about the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Through the application and refinement of the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Plan”, students of the International College will take root in China to understand the nation and its people, grow intellectually and gain practical skills in innovation and entrepreneurship, hone their will as they overcome numerous challenges, and strive to inheret and build upon socialism with an international vision.
