Mr. Andrew Conlan-Trant, Dean of Dublin Business School (DBS), visited the International College on 18 September 2018 to exchanged views on how to further promote the exchange program including Finance and Accounting majors between the two schools, and discussed related matters of student cultivation and teacher studying visits.

The Dean of the International College Prof. Tao Tao and deputy dean Ms. Guanhua Huang, together with associate professor of accounting, Mr. Xueen Xu, met Mr. Andrew in the reception room of Kun Luan Building. Dean Tao expressed great pleasure to see Mr. Andrew again, and also showed sincere appreciation for his warm reception and hospitality during the Ireland visit in June. It is their consensus that frequent interaction and close communication would contribute to the development and cooperation of DBS program. This cooperative program was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2010, and constantly developed under the joint efforts of both sides. Among current 575 graduates, some of them go around the world for further study, others enter into society and find jobs. There’re 51% graduates of class 2017 in this program choose to continue their education overseas, which ranked first in XMU. Notably, some of graduates had received the offers from overseas top-ranked universities such as Australian National University (ANU), Warwick University, University of Sydney, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. As for those who start to work, majority of them come into “Big Four” accounting firms or banks like BDO China Shu Lun Pan Certified Public Accountants LLP, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Ernst & Ernst, the Bank of China.

Dean Andrew further thanked our reception and indicated that DBS attached great importance to the cooperation with Xiamen University. He specially came here to gather the comments and recommendations on the cooperative project between two schools and gain a better understanding of students’ needs on professional academic, scholarships, living environment and further education, so that he can provide the basis for policies aimed at encouraging them to study at DBS. Besides, the plan about teacher exchange visits, academic and research was also intensively negotiated in the meeting.
