The Dean of the International College Prof. Tongtao Zheng Was Invited to the Annual Meeting of CSCSE-SQA HND Project

At 9:00a.m. on May 5, 2016, the annual meeting of CSCSE-SQA HND project organized by the Department of Education was held in Beijing. The Dean of the International College Prof. Tongtao Zheng and the deputy dean Mr.Guanhua Huang were invited to the meeting.

In the meeting, Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, SQA program officers and some representatives from the top 32 universities in China got together and exchanged their views on how to have high quality curriculum system, advanced teaching idea and how to cultivate skilled talents in SQA HND project.

During the meeting, the deputy dean of the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange and some professors from all the universities delivered some great speeches, which discussed the development of SQA HND project in China. Prof. Tongtao Zheng made a speech named Teaching Quality and International education, he pointed out that studying abroad becomes far more common these years, how to cultivate high quality overseas students should be a priority for all. He introduced the ten years trial and persistence of the SQA HND project in the International College and experience and lessons it had accumulated. He shared the new concept and ideas with all the guests and received warm responses.

It is understood that the International College started CSCSE-SQA HND project in 2006. Relying on the rich resources of Xiamen University, the International College has built cooperation with some government agencies like the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange and SQA, with the aim of nurturing creative and highly intellectual personnel with international vision and competition. In the past decade, there are over 2,700 graduates from the International College went abroad for the further study and some excellent graduates were accepted as master students at the world’s top universities like Oxford University, King’s College London, Columbia University, Australian National University and the University of Melbourne. Thousands of the graduates got jobs at investment firms, accounting firms, multinational enterprises and public institutions back home.
