Recently, the admission line of first echelon of our university in Fujian Province has been delimited, among which the admission line of Sino-foreign educational program taught and managed by the International School is 600 points in arts and 610 points in science. The scores are much higher than last year. It is reported that the score of this program has been rising sharply for 5 years since the enrollment in 2011. The increasing admission line of this program proves an improvement on examine-es, parents’ and people from all works of life’s recognition for the educational quality of International School.

A Professional International Education Base

For decades, the International School in Xiamen University has been dedicated to constructing a biggest and most effective International Education Base in China. The International School has formed some specific collaborative model between China and foreign countries during these years. It has been in cooperation with more than 60 universities from the US, the UK, France, Ireland, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Holland etc in aspect of bachelor and master degrees on the subjects of education, economics, art, management and technology.

In 2010, the Ministry of Education approved of our Sino-foreign educational program for the collaborative teaching of finance and accounting with DBS (Dublin Business School) owned by Kaplan Educational Group. This was not only the first Sino-foreign educational program that was included in national enrollment plan(first echelon) since the 90-year-old Xiamen University but also a successful example of Xiamen University’s collaboration with one of the world’s biggest educational group---Kaplan. In 2012, after authorized by the Ministry of Education, Xiamen University founded an overseas studying training base, which was run by the International School. Currently, it is the only legal overseas studying training base in the southeast five provinces. In 2015, the undergraduate courses of finance and accounting from Sino-foreign educational program passed the assessment of the ministry with the highest score.

The High Graduation and Enrollment Rate

So far, there have been 2400 graduates going abroad for further study, among which more than 70% have been admitted to world grand universities such as Oxford University, London School of Economics, King’s College, Columbia University, York University and Australia National University etc. More than 60 students were admitted by the world top 100 universities when graduated in 2015. Simply the University of Sydney and Melbourne have enrolled 15 graduates from our International School.

The high 90% overseas enrollment rate lies in the rigorous educational philosophy of our International School. In our school, curriculum that recognized by partner institutes is adopted and original textbooks and teaching styles are introduced. The intensive foreign language and bilingual teaching are employed. Moreover, a great number of professors from our partner institutes have been invited to our school for regular classes, which accounts for over 50% among the whole courses. At the same time, we pay much heed to the learning of foreign language and combine effectively the professional basic courses and moral education, making the characteristics of Sino-foreign education dynamically integrate with the excellent teaching materials of our own. This promotes the mutual communication and makes the foreign things serve China.

Our school offers a superb platform for students’ quick integration into abroad study countries. Based on each individual’s condition and requirement, it implements personalized overseas education from the aspect of language ability, learning skills and independent living. Meanwhile, it forms a rigid educational control system due to the close relationship, regular visit and the system of internal and external audit between our International School and foreign collaborative universities, which has ensured the teaching quality and achieved high appreciation from the foreign collaborative universities. As is shown from the feedback, graduates from the International School in Xiamen University were better integrated into overseas universities than those from the same types of school in China.

The International School has made several “-est” in Xiamen University: getting the highest IELTS scores (8.5 or 8.0, 7.5) with the lowest entrance scores, achieving the highest postgraduate admission rate of world top 100 universities, possessing the highest percentage of foreign professor teaching (over 50%), having the largest number of collaborative foreign universities (65). Merely in 2015, 52 foreign universities had accepted students from our International School as postgraduates.
