In the afternoon of the November 6th, Mr. Ed D'SouzaDean, Dean of the WinchesterSchool of Art of the University of Southamptonvisited the International College. Professor Zheng Tongtao(the Dean), Lv Zixuan(Deputy Dean), and teachers for the art and design project warmly welcomed the visitors .

The two sides attended a welcome meeting and held a discussion in Room B509 of Kun Luan Building. At first, Dean Zheng Tongtao, on behalf of the International College, welcomedDean Ed D'Souzato our college, and he also introduced the teaching, research and development of our college, and the development of the cooperation projects with the University of Southampton.

Dean Ed D'Souza said that it was his first visit to our college since he served as Dean of the WinchesterSchool of Art of the University of Southampton. He aimed to learn the development of the project and to jointly promote it. The Winchester School of Art attaches great importance to the long-term and stable cooperative relationship with Xiamen University. And he also presented highly praise for good teaching quality and results of our college. It is hoped that Ed’s visit can promote project cooperation to a higher level. Art teachers introducedtheir research fields and scientific achievementsto Dean Ed. DeanEd hoped to make use of the existing resources and platforms of both sides to promote in-depth cooperation in teachers and the global art industry. At the meeting, two sidesalso made agreement onthe organization of student exhibitions, faculty exchanges, and the combination of research and practice.

After the discussion, Dean Ed D'Souza, accompanied by Dean Zheng Tongtao, visited the teaching facilities of the International College such as teachers offices, studios and fashion design studios, and he held a seminar with teachers and students of the art project. The students asked questions about how to improve arts, vocational development planning, and study in the UK and Dean Ed answered the questions patiently. Dean Ed D'Souza Dean highly praised the teaching quality, the hardware and software conditions, and the overall capacities of the students.
