May 27, keynote speechonthe Techniques and Methodsof learning English was carried out at Room A204 of Building No.1, Xiang'an Campus of Xiamen University. Graduate student fromForeign Languages School of Xiamen University Fang Wenhong was invited to shareexperiences in English learning with the students fromDublin program of International College, who all benefited a lot.

Fanghas received many honors, including champion of the fourth Cross-strait Interpretation Contest, and has extensive experience in learning English. He summarized this presentationas a review and sharing of his English learning process.He started from his own interest in learning English and then proposed the importance of learning English.According to Fang, determination + confidence + perseverance  were basic factors to learnthe languagewell.

Next, from the perspective of vocabulary, listening, speech, reading and translation, Fang addressed the students’concern and difficulty of learning English.Through forms of combing pictures and video, he introduced students a variety of learning methods and recommended many different types of English learning websites and books.

Fang also summed up such learning concepts as collaborative learning, actions and perseverance and regular summary and reflection, and he hopedthe students to pay attention to team strength, learn and communicate with each other.

Duringthe communication, the students asked questions on the content of presentation and their learning difficulties. Fang answered all the questionspatientlyand gave recommendations based on his own experience. The event came to an end in a relaxed atmosphere.

The English speech is one of the theme lectures undertaken by Dublin program of theInternational College. Students have not only harvested diverse English learning methods and a wealth of learning resources, but also have learned scientific English learning concepts and attitudes. Meanwhile, they have mastered a clear direction fortheir learning targets in the future.
