On September 12 to 14, the International College conducted entrance education serial lectures for freshmen of 2010 at Jiageng Building five, the lectures including freshmen adaptation education, college rules and regulations, student management, educational management, project reports, study planning, etc. , in order to provide comprehensive guidance for the freshmen.

Adjust mentality to adapt to the campus life
In order to let the freshmen adapt to the campus life as soon as possible, our college arranged lectures on freshmen adaptation education, safety education, student management and regulations the next day after registration. With a background in social work education, the teacher Chi Zhouxing shared her views and suggestions with the freshmen from aspects of life, learning, interpersonal relationship and psychology. She suggested the students should be independent in their daily lives, but to avoid self-centered. For learning, students should master the initiative and establish a correct view of learning, develop effective study plans and focus on self-learning and self-management; As for interpersonal relationship, students should learn to love the people around, take the initiative to care for others, and develop mature relationships; In the terms of psychology, students should have a full, comprehensive and correct understanding of themselves.
Counselor Zhang Qiulong introduced the safety instruction about food and beverage, health care, postal services, banks and traffic conditions around the campus. He stressed the college student management, attendance, and reward system in order to help freshmen to establish a good sense of discipline at the very beginning.
Teaching Secretary introduced the classroom rules of se, test methods, and repetition study management approach of the International College in subsequent lectures. If students fail course examination, they need to retake the courses. Students who failed three courses would repeat the year. Full-time college teachers have Office Hour twice a week. when students can have consultation in the teachers' offices at that time.
Our college also invited the library teacher Li Jian to explain the library’s conditions, library resources, rules and regulations, book circulation processes and rules, as well as the use approach of my library .
Learn the project and get ready for study abroad
Project department teacher Su mainly focused on the academic field, such as school planning, curriculum, language proficiency requirements and approaches to study abroad of each project. The College currently offers CSCSE-SQA, business management undergraduate in London University, art and design undergraduate and education master programs in the University of Southampton, Sino-Japan Bachelor degree Program. According to the introduction, the CSCSE-SQA project began to implement the double registration system since 2009. The so-called double registration refers to that students should register both in Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange and SQA when entering the preparatory phase, which means that each student has two registration numbers. CHN registration number is the only identity label for SQA HND project department to provide various services for students.
Teacher Su said that in the process of preparing to study abroad, students must first determine the country and school that they prefer and prepare language proficiency test and take professional courses. After their scores in the language and professional courses meet the entrance requirements of foreign universities, students would receive a letter of admission from foreign universities. In the final phase, the project department teachers would guide students to apply for student visa.
Set goals and make academic planning
The projects of the International College also held meetings for students and teachers, introduced freshmen curriculum and professional direction of the project, to help them establish learning goals and make academic planning.
Teacher Jiao Jingdong from the English department introduced the English Curriculum of CSCSE-SQA project and undergraduate preparatory project. In the three-year CSCSE-SQA project, English learning of the first year includes basic English courses ESOL and listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. In the second year, our college offers different English courses for different levels of students, in order to intensify their performance in ELTS. In the third year, English teacher will provide one-to-one tutoring for the students who are slower. The length of schooling of the undergraduate preparatory project is one year, including three semesters. In the first two semesters, the main focuses are ESOL and IELTS English language learning, and in the third semester, the College will offer students a variety of IELTS training courses and electives. Teacher Jiao stressed the importance of laying a solid foundation of English and he encouraged students to take IELTS test in the summer vocation of the first year.
Teacher Wang Lin from the CSCSE-SQA project explained the professional direction of the project, curriculum, competency requirements and scope of employment. This project includes four majors: international trade and business, international finance, business accounting and hotel management. Freshmen can re-select their major at the end of the first academic year. From the beginning of the second year, each major starts to learn professional courses which are taught in English or bilingual. Students need to get 30 credits during the two-year study. Course Assessment criteria are Pass or Fail. Wang also made several requests to the freshmen. She hoped the freshmen could develop the abilities in English, advanced mathematics, and computer applications, as well as have a healthy body and strong interest in study. Besides, she said that in terms of IELTS, students must obtain 6 point during the three-year study.
Teacher Lin Yingting of the London University Business Management undergraduate program introduced the cases of the Mary Queens of London University, the two-year curriculum of the International College and the requirements of being enrolled in Mary Queens College. In the first year of the project, students need to learn English and some basic courses, and in the second year, students mainly study professional courses, like economics, organizational behavior, management and some other. The project students must obtain a score of 6.5 in IELTS during the two-year study pass all the courses, and the foreign interview in the last semester. After reaching those requirements, they can take courses at the Mary Queens College. Lin warned the freshmen that they must be clear of what they should do, set a high goal and be brave and confident to achieve that goal.
Yuan Yuan, teacher from the Sino-Japan project introduced the conditions of Shizuoka Industry University in Japan. She encouraged the freshmen to set goals, adapt to the environment, and make determinations to study hard. She said that in the early stages of language learning, you would learn Japanese well as long as you are willing to and make great efforts to learn,.
Teachers of art and design projects also gave project presentation and professional guidance to the freshmen.
