Dean Zheng Tongtao from international college was invited to China Study Abroad Forum 2010

Recently, the 15th China International Education Exhibition Tour(CIEET) and China Study Abroad Forum 2010 was held in Beijing. Zheng Tongtao, president of international school, was invited to the forum and entrusted the host of Experts Discussion Forum. Permitted by the ministry of education of the people’s republic of China, it was sponsored by Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange(CSCSE) and main leaders of           

Department of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education(DIECME), United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, and Higher Education Academy of China(HEAC) were presented and addressed. Representatives from ten well-known universities in the world showed up, and deliberated the relative subjects of internationalization of high education, cross-border student mobility and the effective sharing of the educational resources of high quality through keynote speech, forum and study, experts speeches and charrattes. 

Bai Zhangde, director of CSCSE, took the chair. Speeches about the subjects  have been delivered by Zhou Yuanqing, chairman of HEAC, Andrew C. Walker, executive vice president of Heriot-Watt University, Janet Brown, Chief Executive of Scotland Qualification Authority(SQA), William Purcell, vice-chancellor of University of Technology, Sydney, Yenbo Wu, vice-president of San Francisco State University and Zhang Xiuqin, president of DIECME. In the forum discussion of the current situation of student cross-border mobility, Yu Jihai, deputy inspector of DIECME, Ge Gannan, counselor of education of New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Professor Roger Woods, executive president of the University of Nottingham in Ningbo and Wan Yinzhong, education counselor of Australia Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade probed into the issues with the guests about globalization speeds up international students’ mobility and how to guarantee educational quality, as well as how the protect students’ interests.

Zhou Nanzhao, chairman of The Asia-pacific international education and value education of UNESCO, took the chair and deliver a speech in the sub-forum of the influences of Curriculum differentiation to students cross-border mobility. Xi Youmin, executive president of Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool University, Daniel J Julius, vice-president of University of Alaska and chairman of the technology and continuing education committee of education and training department in state of new south wales delivered experts speeches. During the following meeting, our president Zheng was honored as host. And Prof. John Belcher, president of SAF, Ruth Moir, director of international and cooperation department of Heriot-Watt University, Chen Linhan from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and AynsleyMoores, academic manager of The Northern Consortium in Asia-Pacific held a heated discussion about the subject of students cross-border mobility and advanced educational resources, including bilateral communication in international school-running cooperation, international mobility of students, building a system of teaching monitor management of school-running cooperation to protect students’ rights and quality of education, international programs, and its markets, and challenges with the international school-running in China.

President Zheng Tongtao, who has an 18-year experience abroad for studying, has been being the leader of consultant experts on international educational cooperation projects in the CSCSE since April 2009. In the interview by Sina Education Channel after the forum, president Zheng made a introduction of the exchange student project in XiaMen University, the foreign students' accommodation issue and the impact that foreign education experience has on students. He emphasized that foreign horizon is crucial to overseas Chinese students. He also believes that foreign educational experiences offer students the opportunities to obtain more knowledge and open their eyes, and enable them think in a different way.

The 2010 Chinese Overseas Study Forum provides a platform for cooperation and communication, through which the government and education agencies domestically and internationally are able to discuss the new problems emerged in the course of higher education's internationalization and the field of overseas study. Since 1999, the CSCSE has successively held 14 successful China International Education Exhibition Tour within 19 large-medium cities. In the past 6 years, the CSCSE has successfully held 6 Overseas Study Forum, which has been a new lightspot and organic component of CIEET.
