Recently, the online teaching activity jointly launched by International College, Xiamen University and Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom has come to a successful conclusion. This joint online lecture is taught in English, focusing on the topic of "innovative product marketing planning", and is divided into four lectures. Seven tutors and nearly 100 students from four universities in China and the UK participated in the joint online teaching.

During this period, four instructors from Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom presided over the seminars. Four modules with core content of "Market Trend Analysis in China and the United Kingdom", "Brand Development and Brand Identification", "Digital Marketing and Electronic Business" and "The Driving Factors of Sales" are taught to students. In the teaching process, the tutors adopted a variety of ingenious methods such as group discussions, stage presentations, and content reports, to break the inherent "listening" mode in a more lively state. The tutors give timely feedback after the weekly seminars, explore the potential of each student and greatly mobilize the overall enthusiasm of the class, allowing students to rapidly expand their thinking in a short time through "brainstorming". Different ideas and knowledge in cross-cultural communication and collision also left a deeper impression on the students. In the closing group presentation session, the Chinese and British tutors jointly guided the students to simulate the marketing plan around the fashion frontier trend of "wearable" products, discussed the process of brand establishment, the factors affecting the development of the brand, and inspired the students to actively think about the market, the relationship between consumers, prices, and emerging digital marketing technologies.

In terms of teaching form, this joint online teaching adopts the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) of Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. Students from Nottingham Trent University, Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and other universities and the students from class of 2020 fashion management of International College, Xiamen University, logged on to the platform according to the course schedule, interacted with teachers, and held simultaneous discussions in real time.
During the one-month course, many students enjoyed such a lively and efficient class. The students of class 2020 fashion management in our college said that the form of joint online teaching is novel, interactive and convenient, which is refreshing, and they have also benefited a lot from professional learning and research ideas. They look forward to more online joint teaching courses in the future.
After the course, Anita, Senior Lecturer of Fashion Management at Nottingham Trent University, UK, sent a letter of thanks to International College, and spoke highly of the performance of the teachers and students of our college in this joint teaching, and are very grateful for the strong supports of our college to complete the joint lecture. She was deeply impressed by the professional level of our teachers and students' learning and teamwork ability.

This joint teaching is not only an active attempt by our college to cooperate with Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom to explore new ways, new means and new methods of online teaching, and has accumulated experience for the cooperative teaching of international education program, but also an in-depth thinking and exploration of the innovative method of international teaching in the post-epidemic era to meet the needs of students for international education, enhance international cooperation and cross-cultural exchanges, and cultivate talents with global competence for the realization of the Chinese dream.
Views of Students:
"The form of online joint teaching is very novel. After each class, the teacher organizes us to have a group discussion, analyzes the theoretical knowledge learned in the class, and immediately helps us sort out the logic. Finally, the assessment is concluded by simulating entrepreneurship in the group, which allows us to better connect theory with practice, and clearly understand what the role of various analysis models is, rather than staying on the surface.”
——Student Wang, 2020 Fashion Management
"During the course of the lecture, the teachers have been giving us patient and meticulous guidance, and answering every question carefully and seriously. At the same time, the teacher also collects the opinions of the students at the end of each class, and according to the feedback of the students, the teaching method and content of the next class will be adjusted accordingly. Practical teaching methods such as rich brand cases and simulated marketing plans are also more attractive to us than pure theoretical teaching, helping us to better absorb knowledge.”
——Student Tao, 2020 Fashion Management
"In the beginning, we had group discussions, and sometimes the British classmates may speak faster, and sometimes I could not hear clearly. But as the course deepens, we gradually adapt to this form of online learning and seminars. We can not only state our opinions and provide more information on the Chinese market for the discussion of the topic, but also our ability to make PPT has been recognized by the team, and our role in the team has become more and more significant."
——Student Kong 2020 Fashion Management
"In this joint lecture, teachers shared many famous brand cases, such as, Apple, Tesla, Google, Microsoft, Starbucks, Coca-Cola, and Disney. These cases are interesting and allow everyone to use the knowledge they have learned to analyze and understand the latest industry development and brand marketing methods. During the process of participating in the group discussion, our thinking became more divergent and we felt a sense of being opened. At the same time, through this study, we also became familiar with the online courses of foreign universities in advance, and benefited a lot.
