The 2025 International College Teachers’ Teaching Skills Competition was successfully held

On May 24th, the final of the 2025 International College Teachers' Teaching Skills Competition was held as scheduled in No. 4 Main Building of Zhangzhou Campus. Ms Wang Roujie, the head of the English Teaching and Research Group, presided over the competition, and all the teachers were present to observe and learn.

The competition is divided into two stages: the preliminary round and the final round. According to the college's educational orientation and actual conditions, the preliminary round mainly assesses teachers based on their actual classroom teaching, teaching effectiveness, and student attendance. A listening team composed of the heads of each teaching and research group and teachers who have won awards in previous school competitions enters the actual classrooms of the 35 participating teachers for on-the-spot listening. They evaluate the teaching content, teaching organization, ideological and political education in the curriculum, and AI-enabled teaching, and rank them comprehensively based on student attendance and academic performance, selecting 15 young teachers to advance to the final round. During the preliminary round, all teachers actively participated, achieving full coverage.

The final consists of two rounds of competitions: the semi-final and the final. The shortlisted teachers were divided into three groups to participate in the semi-final. After intense competition, six young teachers stood out and successfully advanced to the final.

The finals are conducted according to the standards of the school competition. Through 20-minute classroom segment teaching and the design of teaching plans, each contestant is evaluated in terms of teaching content, teaching organization, teaching language and demeanor, and teaching characteristics. During the competition, the participating teachers presented a wonderful teaching feast with their solid professional skills and unique teaching styles. The ingenious and distinctive classroom design, the lively and interesting teaching content, fluent and authentic English/Japanese expressions, novel and unique teaching methods, and smooth and elegant blackboard writing... not only demonstrated the teachers' proficient teaching skills, but also fully showcased the international style of the young teachers of the college. After nearly three hours of exciting competition, Li Li won the special prize with her vivid and rich teaching content, meticulous teaching design, and excellent foreign language proficiency, which impressed the judges. Sun Shengxuan won the first prize. Chen Tian and Duan Zhaoxu were awarded the second prize. Xie Yanping and Zhang Linbo received the third prize.

Finally, He Haitao, deputy dean of IC delivered the closing speech. He first expressed gratitude on behalf of the college to the teachers who actively participated in the teaching competition, and expressed appreciation for the high-level teaching demonstrated by the participating teachers. In light of the current new situation in artificial intelligence and education development, he hoped that the teachers would enhance their awareness of crisis and reform, constantly transform their teaching management concepts, carry out individualized educational and teaching work based on students' characteristics, explore constructive and innovative talent cultivation models, and comprehensively improve the college's teaching level with high standards and strict requirements, so as to cultivate more outstanding students and help them realize their dreams of studying abroad.

In recent years, IC has regarded the teaching skills competition as a key measure to deepen teaching reform and build a high-level teaching faculty. It has gradually established a positive mechanism of "full participation, comprehensive evaluation, and all-round improvement". Through competitions to promote teaching and improvement, the college has continuously enhanced the comprehensive quality, professional level and innovation capabilities of teachers, and also provided an effective platform for teachers to learn from each other and progress together. IC will take this as an opportunity, closely focusing on the fundamental task of fostering virtue and cultivating talents, fully leveraging the exemplary and leading role of outstanding teachers, effectively promoting the transformation of competition results, and continuously improving the quality of education and teaching as well as the level of talent cultivation.
