Dean Tao Leads a Delegation to Visit Singapore and Australia

From May 25th to 31st, Dean Tao of International College(IC), Xiamen University(XMU) was invited to visit Singapore and Australia. While deepening program cooperation with relevant partner institutions, IC continuously expanded new cooperative universities to build more high-level platforms for students to study abroad. Dean Tao and the delegation also visited the overseas alumni of IC, shared warm memories, gathered the strength of alumni, and jointly promoted the progress of the 20th anniversary celebration of IC.


On May 26th, Dean Tao and the delegation visited Curtin University Singapore Campus and Kaplan Higher Education Academy (Singapore) successively. In-depth exchanges were held respectively with Alex Stojcevski, the president of Curtin University Singapore Campus, and Dave Kuah, the vice president of Kaplan Higher Education Academy (Singapore), whos in charge of international affairs, on the existing study abroad cooperation in fields such as business and art design to explore the feasibility of innovative cooperation models such as introducing internationally recognized vocational skills certification courses and jointly building internship and practice bases, to provide students with an international education experience that better meets market demands and continuously enhance students' global employment competitiveness.



On May 27th, Dean Tao and his delegation arrived in Sydney, Australia, to visit Macquarie University. Since 2019, XMU has established 2+2 international undergraduate program(finance major, etc.) and 1+1.5 international master's program (finance major, etc.) with Macquarie University. Dean Tao and the head of the International Office of Macquarie University reviewed the cooperation between the two sides over the past five years and had an in-depth discussion on further enhancing the effectiveness of the cooperation. Both sides agreed to fully explore the advantages of the programs to help more students from XMU complete their undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Macquarie University. Dean Tao invited the university's officials to visit XMU on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of IC.

On May 28th, Dean Tao visited Deakin University and La Trobe University in Melbourne. At Deakin University, Dean Tao discussed with John Molony, Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University the possibility of establishing a 2+2 international undergraduate program between the two universities and invited Vice-Chancellor John Molony to visit XMU on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of IC. At La Trobe University, Dean Tao and the head of the Business School explored the possibility of cooperation on a 2+2 international undergraduate program and a 1+1 international master's program between the two universities.

On May 29th, Dean Tao and his team visited RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology). During the discussion and exchange, Director Tao provided a detailed overview of the latest developments, program features, and future internationalization strategy of IC and XMU. They also explored the possibility of establishing a 2+2 international undergraduate program cooperation between the two institutions, focusing on the university's strengths in fields such as art design and fashion management.

On May 29th, Dean Tao and the delegation visited RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology). During the visit, with the assistance of Meng Qingrui, the deputy secretary of the Melbourne Alumni Association of Xiamen University and a 2013 alumnus of the International College, and Chen Ye, a 2013 alumnus, respectively visited some Singaporean alumni and Australian alumni. On May 25th, Dean Tao visited Singaporean alumni: Chen Ye, Lin Yuexin (Class of 2013 ), Chen Ruilie (Class of 2021), and Chen Yebin (Class of 2021). Dean Tao introduced the recent development of the college and the preparations for the 20th anniversary celebration to everyone, and warmly invited the alumni to return to the alma mater in the golden autumn season and offer suggestions for the development of IC.

On May 28th, Dean Tao visited Australian alumni including Zeng Yilin (Class of 2017), Sun Tian (Class of 2018), Jiang Mengdie (Class of 2018), Jian Xijia (Class of 2020), and Pu Zhuoyi (Class of 2021). After having a warm exchange with the alumni, Dean Tao expressed his hope that all of them would return to their alma mater to participate in the celebration on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of IC.

On May 29th, Dean Tao also visited alumni from Melbourne, including Wang Shengjie (Class of 2015), Hong Huarong, Guo Junlin (Class of 2020), Wang Zheng, Zhang Xiaolu, and Xiao He (Class of 2021). The alumni shared their wonderful experiences during their studies at IC and expressed their gratitude for the college's nurturing. Dean Tao encouraged everyone to keep striving and looked forward to their return to celebrate the 20th anniversary of IC.

On May 30th, Dean Tao visited the Macau Alumni Association of Xiamen University. They had in-depth discussions with President Li Mingting, Secretary-General Duan Bingang and Deputy Secretary-General Meng Qingrui on the implementation of the Australian alumni affairs of International College.

The productive visit to Singapore and Australia, IC not only had in-depth exchanges with many high-level universities regarding the study abroad programs, but also visited IC alumni and conveyed the care of the  Alma mater to them, which lays a foundation for the smooth implementation of IC's 20th anniversary celebration activities. Looking ahead, IC will continue to uphold the school motto of "Self-improvement, Pursuit of Excellence" and the educational philosophy of "Integrating Eastern and Western Strengths to Cultivate Global Talents", dedicated to cultivating outstanding students with an international perspective and innovative spirit. It will further deepen international cooperation and work together with global alumni to jointly draw up a grand blueprint for the high-quality development of the college.
