pubdate: 2025/06/11 views:

On June 9th , International College(IC), in collaboration with Xiang'an Hospital of Xiamen University, held a first aid knowledge and skills training in the auditorium of Building 3 on the Zhangzhou Campus. The training helps to enhance the emergency first aid capabilities of our faculty and students, popularize first aid knowledge and skills, and improve students' ability to respond to emergencies, to grasp the golden 4 minutes that determines life or death.

In daily life, unexpected situations can occur at any time. Mastering the correct first aid knowledge and skills can save lives and alleviate pain in critical moments. The training adopted a "theory + practice" teaching model to ensure that students not only acquire solid theoretical knowledge but also develop practical operational skills.

The theoretical explanation session

Zhang Lili, Deputy Director of the National Clinical Teaching and Training Demonstration Center at Xiang'an Hospital of Xiamen University, leveraged her rich clinical experience and professional knowledge to explain in a clear and accessible manner how to calmly assess the condition of the injured in emergency situations, as well as the methods for performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and using Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Through vivid case analysis and detailed step-by-step explanations, she helped the students deeply understand the importance and urgency of first aid.

Yao Jianyu, from the National Clinical Teaching and Training Demonstration Center at Xiang'an Hospital of Xiamen University (Siming Campus), explained various common first aid knowledge points to the students, such as how to handle external bleeding, burns and scalds, fractures and sprains, choking, and heatstroke. By combining real-life cases from daily life and study, he helped teachers and students deeply realize the importance of first aid knowledge in critical moments.

Practice Operation Session

After the theoretical explanation, the students eagerly engaged in hands-on practice. The training site was well-equipped with an ample supply of human models and first-aid equipment. The students practiced in groups, experiencing the emergency response procedures firsthand. Medical staff from Xiang'an Hospital of Xiamen University patiently guided each step of the first-aid actions. They meticulously explained every detail, from assessing the patient's consciousness and checking for breathing, to performing chest compressions, opening the airway, and administering mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

The emergency first-aid knowledge and skills training activity came to a successful conclusion. By integrating theoretical instruction with practical operation, participants not only acquired professional first-aid knowledge and skills, but also gained a deep understanding of the significant role that first aid plays in safeguarding lives. In the future, it is hoped that more teachers and students will apply the first-aid knowledge they have learned to real-life situations, lend a helping hand in critical moments, and become guardians of life. Let us join hands and use our first-aid knowledge to protect and preserve lives.
