To help the Class of 2025 settle smoothly into university life, International College(IC)held a week-long orientation program from August 30th to September 5th . Through themed sessions on “Glorious Xiamen University(XMU),” “A Warm Community,” “Safety Education,” “Cherish Your Health,” “Smart Living,” “Knowing and Obeying the Law,” and “Rules and Responsibilities,” students were equipped to launch a fulfilling and inspiring university journey.

On the morning of August 30th, the orientation program kicked off with lively team-building activities. Through a series of carefully designed cooperative games and interactive sessions, the new students quickly broke the ice and experienced the power and warmth of unity.
Glorious Xiamen University & Campus Civility


On the afternoon of August 30th, Ma Xianghua, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.IC, delivered the first lecture of the orientation program with the title “New Beginning, New Journey, New Future—Are You Ready?” She introduced the Zhangzhou Campus, reviewed IC’s development and student-centered philosophy, and interpreted Tan Kah Kee’s spirit and Xiamen University’s campus culture,and showcased the college’s diverse growth platforms and international learning environment. She encouraged the new students to map out their academic paths, accumulate life wisdom, join campus activities, refine themselves, and keep the future in view—linking personal destiny to national development so as to become idealistic, responsible, and action-oriented youth of the era. Afterwards, Su De, Class Counselor of the new students gave a detailed briefing on laws and regulations, university rules, and residence-hall policies, laying a normative foundation for campus life.

On the morning of September 1st, class of 2025 attended an online lecture titled “The Historical Spirit and Cultural Identity of Xiamen University”, delivered live by Professor Zhu Shuiyong from the School of Humanities. Through the session, they gained insight into the university’s profound historical legacy and experienced its distinctive cultural character.
Stay Safe and Cherish Health


On the afternoon of September 1st, IC organized the new students to go to the Siming campus to attend an intensive safety-education. The program covered three modules—national security, anti-fraud awareness, and drug-control advocacy—designed to strengthen students’ sense of responsibility for safeguarding national security, sharpen their ability to detect and avoid scams, and guide them to stay away from drugs and cherish life.

That night, a lecture on emergency care and health knowledge was held. Zhang Lili, the deputy director of the National Clinical Teaching and Training Demonstration Center of Affiliated Xiang'an Hospital, explained emergency resuscitation knowledge to the students and taught them key life-saving skills; Zeng Xiaoxin, the deputy station chief of Xiamen Central Blood Station, introduced the significance of voluntary blood donation and popularized scientific knowledge about blood donation to the students.
Studying in IC, Winning the Future


On the afternoon of September 2nd , the program coordinators and the teaching secretary gave an introduction to the study abroad programs and explained the teaching management system to the new students, helping them clarify their future plans and goals for studying abroad. Subsequently, each major organized a meeting between teachers and students to deepen the students' understanding of their respective majors.
Love China, Sail the Sea of Knowledge


On the morning of September 3rd, IC organized all the new students to watch the grand scene of the commemoration ceremony for the 80th anniversary of the victory of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, remembering history, paying tribute to the martyrs, and guiding the students to enhance their sense of national pride and patriotic enthusiasm. In the afternoon, Jiang Xiaoyan, a librarian from XMU library, introduced to the students the library's collection resources and various information platforms and other learning resources, encouraging them to make good use of all the learning resources provided by the university.

0n the afternoon of Sep 4th, IC invited Professor Zhan Hong from School of Management, Xiamen University to deliver a lecture titled "Effective Communication and Business Etiquette". This lecture aimed to enhance students' professional qualities in terms of communication skills and etiquette knowledge.

On the morning of September 5th, Zou Wenjing, College Youth League Committee Secretary briefed the freshmen on the transfer of League membership, Party and Youth League branch activities, and the procedures for admitting new Party and League members. She also introduced the departments of the Student Development Center, encouraging students to firm up their ideals and convictions and to take an active part in campus activities that enrich university life. Afterwards, Ma Hong counselor of the new students guided them through the smart-campus information system, familiarizing them with academic regulations on course attendance and other administrative rules of both IC and XMU.
New beginning, new journey, new future. May the Class of 2025 open the shine chapter of their lives in IC.
