On September 29th, the third episode of "My Study Abroad Life" lecture series was held at Room 101, Building 4 on the Zhangzhou Campus. Timed with the approaching of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the event featured a lecture by Ms Huang Yufei from the professional group, who shared her insights under the theme Mid-Autumn Reflection on Overseas Life. The lecture was presided over by Su De, the student counselor.
At the beginning of the event, Ms Huang and Mr Su prepared exquisite mooncakes and small snacks for the students. These small gifts carried the blessings of the Mid-Autumn Festival and also conveyed the care and warmth of the college towards the students.

The lecture officially commenced in a warm atmosphere. Ms Huang began the lecture by introducing her international background to the students. Possessing a wealth of overseas experience, she completed her undergraduate studies at Beijing Technology and Business University before embarking on her journey abroad in September 2015. Ms Huang subsequently pursued her Master's degree at the University of Leeds in the UK, followed by a PhD at the University of York. She then worked in the United States until her return to China in July 2024. Her nearly decade-long experience abroad allowed her to share numerous authentic and vivid stories throughout her lecture.

During the sharing session, Ms Huang first recounted the challenges she faced upon arriving in a foreign country. Confronted with language barriers and cultural differences, she proactively enrolled in language courses while simultaneously improving her skills by watching British television series and keeping a dairy in English. Through these persistent efforts, she gradually overcame the linguistic obstacles. Her account gave the students a profound appreciation for the determination required to adapt to a new environment.
Ms Huang then shared her doctoral journey with the students. She recounted her interactions with academic supervisors during both her Master's and PhD studies, noting that these experiences not only fostered her academic growth but also profoundly shaped her educational philosophy and teaching style as a teacher. Meanwhile, her years abroad provided deep immersion into British culture, allowing her to accumulate rich cross-cultural life experiences. Through Ms Huang's narrative, students gained valuable insights: maintaining discipline and perseverance in the face of challenges, growing through independence, and embracing diverse cultures with an open mind.
What impressed the students most was her visit to the United Nations. By a fortunate opportunity, she had served as a conference assistant at the UN, where she met many colleagues with great aspirations and noble character, drawing valuable inspiration and experience from them. This experience not only strengthened her belief in the "global village" concept but also gave her a deeper appreciation of the importance of communication, tolerance, and understanding in cross-cultural exchanges.Through this story, the students genuinely understood the significance of a global perspective and a sense of responsibility. They learned the importance of approaching the world with humility and an open mind, continuously improving themselves through communication and cooperation, and ultimately growing into a new generation of youth with international vision and a commitment to the times.

The lecture concluded successfully amidst warm applause. Drawing from her personal experiences of studying abroad and working overseas, Ms. Huang vividly illustrated both the challenges and rewards of international education for the students. She encouraged everyone to pursue their dreams courageously and actively plan their future study abroad journeys. This was not merely an informative session on overseas education planning, but also a profound source of life inspiration. It is believed that this series of lectures will enlighten students to embrace the world with openness, inclusiveness, and self-confidence, encouraging them to move forward with determination and perseverance in their future life.
