On the afternoon of December 12, Nottingham Trent University (NTU) held an information session and open lecture in Classroom 309 of the International Colleg, Xiamen University(XMU). Combining university introduction with interactive teaching, the event provided students with a comprehensive overview of NTU’s academic strengths, educational philosophy, and international talent development model.

At the beginning of the information session, Dr. Jingwen Fan, Senior Lecturer in Economics and Programme Leader for Business Management and Economics at NTU gave a brief introduction to the university. NTU is a high-level institution that emphasizes practical innovation and the integration of industry, academia, and research. It is renowned for its interdisciplinary education and strong industry connections. The university has achieved notable rankings in several authoritative guides: it ranked 25th in the UK in The Guardian University Guide 2026, and secured top positions in both graduate employment rate and course quality in the Uni Compare 2025 rankings. The university comprises nine schools, covering fields such as art and design, business, engineering, and humanities and social sciences. Its Business School has earned triple international accreditation from EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA, placing it among the world's top-tier business schools thanks to its outstanding teaching and research quality. Meanwhile, NTU’s art and design disciplines boast a rich historical foundation and consistently rank among the best in the UK. Its teaching facilities and creative studios also provide students with an excellent environment for learning and practical work.

In the subsequent open lecture, Dr. Fan organized an engaging interactive teaching activity themed around “Market Structure Simulation.” Students participated in a chocolate trading simulation in groups, experiencing the operational mechanisms and price formation processes of different market structures through a "sales competition" among teams of varying sizes. This lively and innovative teaching design not only deepened students’ understanding of economic theories but also showcased NTU’s emphasis on heuristic and participatory teaching approaches, creating a positive and dynamic classroom atmosphere.

At the end of the event, Dr. Fan further introduced the industry-oriented curriculum of Nottingham Trent University Business School. The school maintains close collaborations with over 2,000 enterprises worldwide, ensuring that all courses include practical components to help students integrate theoretical learning with real business scenarios. This deep integration of industry, academia, and research significantly enhances graduates’ employability, making NTU students highly sought after in both the UK and international job markets.

This information session and open lecture not only offered students a window into a high-quality UK university but also sparked their interest in business studies through an immersive classroom experience, empowering them to step onto a broader global stage.
