Question 1: In recent years, students who apply the hospitality management of International College has been increasing year by year. What do you think about this trend?

In the last ten years, more and more students chose the major of hospitality management, which shows that more students and parents are full of confidence in the future development of the hotel industry. With the deepening of global economic integration, the hospitality management has become one of the fastest-growing industries, and its development speed and employment rate in the world, especially in china far exceed that of traditional industries, therefore, firstly, high employment rate is a major advantage of this major.

Secondly, a large number of high-end internationally renowned hotels join into Chinese market, the contradiction between the supply and demand of high-level management talents is intensifying. Under such circumstance, employees with professional international education background often have the advantages of high starting point, smooth promotion channel and accelerate personal growth.

Question 2：Compared with other colleges and universities, what do you think are the main characteristics of the hospitality management major in International College?

Firstly, our teaching system was promulgated and confirmed by the Scottish Qualifications Authority. An important feature of its teaching is to integrate core competence and professional competence into the teaching objectives, to develop core competence throughout the learning process and to evaluate the development level of students’ professional competence. Question 3: You have rich teaching experience. Could you talk about how did you ensure good teaching effect through online teaching during the epidemic period?

Compared with traditional offline teaching, online teaching does have certain limitations. Therefore, in order to mobilize students’ enthusiasm, the teachers should learn to fully entertain themselves, mobilize the students with full passion and rich body language, and guide the students to follow teacher’s ideas, so as to maximize students’ participation. Secondly, review the main content of the last class by asking questions or quizzes before class, ask all students to send answers through private messages, adjust the teaching process according students’ feedback, and follow up the students who did not answer well or did not answer by connecting the microphone, opening camera, sharing screen and other ways to ensure that they actively integrate into the classroom. Thirdly, refine the essence of the content continuously, and highlight the difficult points in the process of explanation, so that students can understand and master the content well and enhance their self-confidence in learning. In short, sincere communication, dedication, and continuous stimulation of the internal drive of students and truly obtain in learning, are important guarantee for the success of online teaching.

Therefore, I suggest that students put aside the stance of customers when travelling, eating and lodging, try to observe the operation of the entire organization from the perspective of the enterprises, get familiar with the industry rules and the division of roles, prepare psychologically for entering the field. Meanwhile, make full use of the summer and winter vacations and weekends to find internship opportunities. GONG Rongxiu, otained PhD in Hotel Management from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She has been to many famous internationl hotels, such as the Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong, Banyan Tree Bangkok, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and Shangri-la Hotel to visit and study, and has in-depth reseach on hotel group operations with Asian culture. with clear explanation, conscientious attitude, and approachable teaching stlye in the past ten years, Ms Gong, has won the love and recognition of the majority of students,  and won the Second prize and the best courseware award in the Fifth English Teaching Competition in Xiamen University.
