On April 10, the 2026 China Study Abroad Forum and the Opening Ceremony of the China International Education Exhibition Tour, hosted by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) of the Ministry of Education, were successfully held at the Beijing National Convention Center. Themed " Inclusion and Collaboration: for a Safe, Reliable and High-Quality International Education", the forum attracted nearly 1,000 representatives from over 200 universities, institutions, enterprises, and media outlets across 29 countries and regions, who participated both online and offline to discuss new opportunities for the development of international educational cooperation.

Yu Hongbo, Dean of the International College(IC), Xiamen University(XMU) and He Haitao, Deputy Dean of IC, XMU, led a delegation to the forum, engaging in in-depth exchanges with domestic and international organizations and renowned institutions. Their participation fully demonstrated the college's strength in international education and its commitment to openness and cooperation, further expanding channels for international collaboration. During the forum, Dean Yu Hongbo was appointed as an expert to the International Education Program Expert Committee under the CSCSE of the Ministry of Education.

As a key supporting event of this year's forum, the China International Education Exhibition Tour (Beijing Stop) 2026 was held concurrently. The college actively participated in the exhibition, engaging in in-depth exchanges with students, parents, and partners who visited for consultation. During the event, Wang Daquan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the CSCSE, and Xia Jianhui, Deputy Director, visited the college’s exhibition booth. They highly commended the college’s achievements in international talent cultivation and Sino-foreign institutional collaboration, and provided guidance on the future direction of the college’s international development.

During the exhibition, DeanYu Hongbo also had a cordial meeting with Professor David Lewis, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Adelaide and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. The two sides held in-depth discussions on key areas such as joint student training and faculty-student exchange programs, and reached a preliminary consensus on further advancing practical cooperation between the two institutions.

During the event, the college was also invited to participate in several exchange activities, further expanding its international cooperation network. On April 8, Dean Yu Hongbo attended the China Regional Symposium of James Cook University, Australia and delivered a keynote speech. Drawing on the college’s distinctive educational features, she shared practical experiences in cross-border talent cultivation, curriculum integration, and cross-cultural communication. She also explored pathways for collaboration between Chinese and Australian universities in areas such as joint discipline development, faculty-student exchanges, and resource sharing, laying the groundwork for deeper future cooperation.

On April 9, Dean Yu Hongbo attended the HAP program exchange event and held cordial talks with several distinguished guests, including Lord Jo Johnson, former UK Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, and Professor Charlie Jeffery, Vice-Chancellor of the University of York, a member of the Russell Group. She introduced the college’s educational strengths, disciplinary features, and international development strategy, and sincerely extended an invitation to the guests and colleagues to visit Xiamen for exchanges and collaboration. The discussions aimed to promote in-depth cooperation and mutually beneficial development in areas such as two-way student mobility, joint training programs, and coordinated growth between the institutions.
Through this series of exchange activities in Beijing, the college not only deepened its friendly cooperative relations with renowned overseas institutions and actively expanded its international cooperation channels, but also gained a clearer understanding of emerging trends in global overseas education. These efforts have injected new momentum into the college’s ongoing efforts to optimize its talent cultivation programs, expand areas of collaboration, and enhance its overall level of international education.
