In the morning of December 5th, Melissa Casey, International Specialist of Faculty of Arts at University of Alberta(UAlberta), Canada visited the International College of Xiamen University(IC) and exchanged ideas with Professor Zheng Tongtao, dean of IC and Ms. Huang Guanhua, director of office. Chen Jianru, project secretary also attended the meeting.

In the meeting, Casey mentioned that Dr. Cormack, the dean of Faculty of Arts was deeply impressed by the strict teaching quality control and management mode of the IC on his last visit. Therefore, she would expect a further cooperation of both sides. Dean Zheng pointed out that solid foundation has been made for both sides and bright future can be foreseen. So far, students in IC have been outstanding and highly international. Each term, specialized lecturers from cooperative foreign universities will be sent to IC and had a 2-10 week intensive course. Dean Zheng proposed cooperation in terms of bachelor and master programmes.
Then both sides further discussed the issues related to cooperation and mutual exchanges. Both expected active cooperation on the level of staff and student exchanges, academic communication and co-research. Meanwhile, they were seeking an overall cooperation in more extensive fields.
