On December 15th, the "Youthful Passion, Love in the Air" Blood Donation Campaign arrived at Zhangzhou campus, Xiamen University(XMU). Students from International College(IC) actively answered the call, actively participated into the voluntary blood donation, demonstrating their social responsibility through concrete actions and bring warmth to the cold winter days.

Careful Organization with Science Education First

In the preparatory phase of the campaign, the college placed high importance on its organization, making detailed arrangements in areas such as event promotion, health reminders, and the preparation of nutritional care packages. The student affairs team took the lead in implementation, organizing counselors to systematically educate students on the significant value of voluntary blood donation and the critical role it plays in clinical blood supply for medical rescue. Through thematic class meetings and grade-level assemblies, they provided a comprehensive overview of the entire blood donation process, emphasized key precautions, and ensured students were fully informed about the rights and benefits of voluntary blood donors. While facilitating orderly registration for the campaign, the team also offered attentive health guidance, reminding students to maintain good routines and a balanced diet before donation, ensuring they could participate in this relay of compassion in their best possible condition.

On the day of the event, the blood donation site was orderly and filled with warmth. Under the professional guidance of the medical staff from Xiamen Central Blood Station, the students completed the procedures of information registration, health consultation, and blood screening in turn. During the donation process, teachers from the Student Affairs Office were also present, offering companionship and care to the participating students. As units of vibrant red blood flowed steadily into the collection bags, they embodied not only the students' respect and compassion for life but also reflected the sense of responsibility and spirit of dedication that defines contemporary youth.

After the event, the college prepared exclusive care packages for the blood donors. Each nutritional gift carries the most sincere respect for their selfless contribution.

This voluntary blood donation not only contributed precious resources to the clinical blood supply but also served as a profound lesson in life education and public welfare practice. Through their act of giving, the students experienced the joy of helping others and strengthened their sense of social responsibility, further embodying the volunteer spirit of "dedication, friendship, mutual aid, and progress."

Reflections on Blood Donation

Huang Xiaojia( Art Design, Class of 2024)

The moment I rolled up my sleeve, my heart was actually pounding—I’ve been afraid of needles since childhood. But as the needle touched my skin and I watched the vivid red blood flow slowly into the bag, that nervousness gradually gave way to a calm, steady warmth. I’ve often heard people say, "Blood donation is a silent act of kindness," and today I truly understood what that means. This bag of blood might one day, somewhere, bring hope of life to someone in desperate need. We may never meet, yet in such a special way, we have completed a connection of lives. After the donation, a faint mark remained on my arm, and in my hand I held the  blood donor card. Suddenly, I felt that this was a meaningful kind of "medal." I realized then—doing a small thing within our power can truly bring a little light into the world.

Ren Yuntao (Bachelor's Degree (2+2) Programme at Shizuoka Sangyo University, Japan,Class of 2025)

The blood flowed quietly along the tube and into the softly swaying blood bag. Outside the window lay the familiar campus scene of December; inside this narrow space, I was completing a silent delivery. The nurse said to me, “Your blood may save someone’s life.” I imagined it flowing into the veins of a stranger, carrying with it the gift of vitality. When I stepped out of the blood donation bus, the evening glow was spreading like a piece of brocade across the sky. The faint sting on my arm was like a freshly stamped seal, marking the winter of my nineteenth year—when I finally understood that growing up means being able to give away a part of oneself to warm the world.

Cao Yu ( SQA(3+1)program,Class of 2025)

This was my first time donating blood, and I felt quite nervous and even a little scared. Sitting in the donation chair, my heart was still uneasy. But as I watched the medical staff gently verifying information, explaining precautions, and skillfully disinfecting and preparing for the needle, my tension gradually eased. The process went smoothly, and I didn’t experience any discomfort.

During the observation period after donating, my college offered me care and encouragement, and my class counselor also kept checking in on how I was feeling, which truly warmed my heart. The commemorative certificate I received became my most precious gift, and it made me realize that even small acts of kindness, when gathered together, can spread great love across any distance.

Fu Jinqi( SQA(3+1)program,Class of 2025)

During the blood donation process, the needle was thicker than I had imagined, but the moment it went in, it didn't hurt as much as I'd expected. Watching my blood flow through the tube into the bag, a sudden thought crossed my mind: this part of "me" is about to go to work inside someone else's body—How amazing. After the donation, I felt a bit lightheaded, but I was given plenty of supplements, and once I replenished my energy, it felt like life had returned to me. The nurse said, "All done—you can save lives now, student." That sentence warmed me more than anything else, leaving me feeling completely at ease, inside and out. On the way back, the more I thought about it, the more worthwhile it felt. I might not do anything earth-shattering in this lifetime, but for those few minutes today, my blood might one day make an appearance on some operating table.

Luo Liuhe (Class Counsellor)

A bag of renewable blood can buy the continuation of an irreplaceable life—its significance has long transcended the act of "donation" itself. At the same time, it embodies the purest kindness between people and reflects the pioneering spirit of a CPC Party member. Voluntary blood donation is a public welfare endeavor that benefits both the nation and its people, and it requires broader participation and support. I hope that my small act can be like a stone dropped into water, creating ripples that encourage more people to join the cause of voluntary blood donation—using their warmth to safeguard lives and their actions to demonstrate responsibility.
