On the noon of November 8, the Stone Donation Ceremony for the 20th Anniversary of the International College（IC), Xiamen Universtiy (XMU) was held in front of Main Building 4 on the Zhangzhou Campus, XMU. The event was attended by Yu Peizhong, President of the International College Alumni Association of Xiamen University and Chairman of Guangdong Jiuzhou Star Real Estate Co., Ltd.; Li Zhiyong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of XMU and Vice President of XMU; Yu Hongbo, Dean of IC, XMU; Chen Yundong, Deputy Secretary-General of the XMU Alumni Association; Xu Bin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Education Development Foundation; Zhang Xiaoyun, Vice Dean of International College; as well as representatives of faculty and students. The ceremony was presided over by Zhou Lei, the Party Secretary of IC.
On behalf of XMU, Li Zhiyong delivered a speech expressing heartfelt gratitude to Yu Peizhong for his generous donation. He reviewed the valuable tradition of "remembering one's origins and supporting education" accumulated since the founding of XMU by Mr. Tan Kah Kee, stating that this donation not only provides material support but also vividly continues the "Tan Kah Kee Spirit" in the new era. He hopes that IC will take this donation as an opportunity to further unite the strength of alumni and promote the high-quality development of IC.
In his address, Yu Peizhong expressed profound gratitude for the nurturing education he received from his alma mater and extended sincere congratulations on the 20th anniversary of IC. He stated that he would take this donation as an opportunity to continuously pay attention to and support the construction and development of all undertakings of the Alma mater. He also called on the fellow alumni and current students to actively contribute back to IC after achieving their own academic and professional success, helping to cultivate more outstanding talents with international perspectives and competitiveness.
Subsequently, Li Zhiyong and Yu Peizhong jointly unveiled the college stone, and a donation certificate was presented to Yu Peizhong in recognition of his contribution.
Following the ceremony, the attending guests, along with faculty and student representatives, gathered for a group photo in front of the college stone, which is engraved with messages of friendship and heartfelt wishes.
