In the morning of November 29th, 2016, Dean Mr. Dharma Kovvuri from University of Central Lancashire Business School and manager of Chinese Zone Mr. Ge Jifei visited the International College. The main purpose of Dean Dharma’s visit is to discuss the recent progress and newest demand of 1+2 undergraduate program majored in Hospitality Management and Exhibition Management, and provides further support for the program.
Prof. Zheng Tongtao, dean of International College/Overseas Education College and vice Dean Ms. Huang Guanhua welcomed the guests and had the meeting at B509 of Kunluan Building. Leader of Professional Research Team vice Prof. Yang Shuai and lecturer of hospitality management Ms. Shi Fengxia also attended the meeting. During the meeting, Dean Zheng showed great welcome to Dean Dharma’s visit. Two parties have made significant progress since Dean Dharma’s first visiting to International College in May this year. The hospitality management and exhibition management program launched this year had welcomed its first 8 students and is being operated well. And the next step is to improve both curriculum setting and teachers support.

In the Meeting
Dean Mr. Dharma Kovvuri from University of Central Lancashire Business School agreed with Dean Prof. Zheng’s proposal. He expressed that in terms of curriculum setting, two parties should communicate in time to see the status and demand. University of Central Lancashire has long been famous for its outstanding quality of education on hospitality, legislation, tourism and exhibition and ranks top ten in UK for ten consecutive years. University of Central Lancashire is willing to provide abundant professional teaching resource and put it into the 1+2 hospitality management and exhibition management program. Regarding as cooperation over teachers support, Dean Dharma promised to arrange teachers to work here as soon as possible and they will possibly arrive between April and June in 2017.

During the meeting, manager of Chinese Zone Ge Jifei asked Dean Zheng for advice on arrangement for exchange students from University of Central Lancashire in ‘Travel to East’ Plan next year. As a brand exchange program, ‘Travel to East’ Plan has been held in China for several years, in which students from University of Central Lancashire come to visit China and exchange thoughts with Chinese students. It provides a platform for students in UK to learn Chinese culture and at the same time helps Chinese students broaden their horizons. Dean Zheng showed great appreciation to this program and welcomed foreign students to visit and study in China.
