During September 10-11, the International College had a series of academic activities for freshmen to introduce them to the campus and the college and to help them shift their roles in time for new life and study. The events were organised by the Student Affairs Department. All freshmen attended.

Counsellor Su De introduces Student Management Procedures

Between 8 to 9:45 am in the afternoon of September 10, the event was launched in the multi-function room on the first floor of Kunluan Building. The first introduction was about adjustment to the campus life and safety procedures. Counsellor Su De introduced regulations on student services and management, including attendance, night classes, dormitory management and liaison between the university and parents. Students were informed about matters they need to comply and were told to remember the university motto of “pursue excellence, strive for perfection”. They are expected to study hard and try to be versatileinternational talents.

The freshmen then sat for the English test to be divided into classes. Our college implements strict rating system and conducts progressive teaching plan. According to different English levels, the college will establishachievement goals for the students in every semester by setting up related courses taught by professional teachers to optimise the results.

  In the afternoon of the 10th, the freshmen learned about the Student Management Procedures.The Teaching Secretary Huang Yan introduced projects of overseas study and rules on teaching management in detail, such as subjects, exams, application for course waiver, tutorship and scholarship. She hoped that students would study hard to improve their English and take IELTS seriously. She also hoped they would proceed to sophomore year when they acquire 5 credits.

In the morning of September 11, counsellors Chen Hanmei and Wu Jing led the students to tidy up the dormitory and to get familiar with the campus. The students received textbooks in the afternoon.

These activities which cover various aspects of study and life are essential for freshmen to settle in the university life. It has laid the foundation for the freshmen to blend in the big family of the International College.
