On June 23, an explanation session about majors for the British 3+2 Master Programme was held at B102, Kunluan Building of International College with the purpose of offering useful suggestions and guidance for going-to-be sophomore students. Senior teachers Yang Shuai, Shi Fengxia, Wu Xiaohong and Liu Jiali made explanation about majors of International Trade, International Finance, Accounting and Hospitality Management respectively. They described the possible jobs and potential career development for each major with examples from the hot TV Series Ode to Joy. They also made detailed introduction to the curriculum, contents and assessment methods for each major at the second year with emphasis on major study, as GU scores of the major will directly affect the application of overseas colleges to continue undergraduate study.

After the introduction, the teachers went on to clarify some important issues regarding major selection. For example, for Hospitality Management, Shi Fengxia explained that it is quite a practical major, so there is going to be a large amount of practice besides theoretical study, which would require determination and persistence from the students. As for Accounting, Liu Jiali advised that as a job dealing with numbers, one has to be sensitive to numbers and attentive to details. The teachers also pointed out that when choosing majors, in addition to personal interests, students should also consider their own strength and future career development.
