Deputy Director of the University of Southampton Prof. Peter Smith visited International College
On Oct. 29th, Prof. Peter Smith (deputy director of the University of Southampton), Mr. Richard Gregory (Project Manager) and Mr. Zhao Tiefu (representative of Xiamen Office of the University of Southampton) visited International College to discuss the details of the “2+2” programs.

The dean Prof. Zheng Tongtao and the associate dean Huang Guanhua met the guests in Xiang’an Campus. Prof. Zheng said, “The University of Southampton is a very important partner of InternationalCollege. The cooperation between the two sides has been always a pleasure - it started from 2008 with the ‘1+1’ master-degree program in education and the ‘2+2’ bachelor-degree program in art design. In 2014 a language centre was set up. This year the ‘1+3’ bachelor-degree program was successfully launched.” Prof. Zheng expected a more in-depth cooperation with the University of Southampton and a further promotion of the “2+2” program.

Prof. Peter Smith appreciated the warm reception. He promised to continue supporting the cooperation in the future, which included the “2+2” programs in business, management and humanities. Mr. Richard Gregory mentioned that the “2+2” programs should be started as soon as possible.

At noon, the guests had an informal discussion with the students. Prof. Peter Smith introduced the university while Mr. Richard Gregory introduced the programs in details. The students asked questions concerning with the campus environment, accommodation, scholarships and language requirements.
