In the afternoon of December 21, 2014, Xiamen University held the final competition for the “XUEJIN Cup” Freshman Basketball Competition. The basketball teamsof our college and the College of Management, the two undefeated teams, participated in the contest in the MingPei Stadium, and they competed fiercely with each other. Finally, because our team failed to score a long shoot in the last moment, we won the second place at 46:49 points.

At the beginning of the game, the other team hit consecutive 3 pointers and scored a lot of gains. While our team only scored 2 points by Tian Qianli. Therefore, we were left behind at 2:10.Our team called a pause to stabilize the situation. After the pause, Tian Qianli got 4 points by an attack under the basket and a free throw and the Captain Chen Liming also hit 3 points. Till the end of the first section, the score was 9:13, that is , our team was 4 points behind.

In the second section, the field has become a trend exchange, and both sides felt quite good. The College of Management got 7 points, while our Captain Chen Limingscored 5 pointsby a  three-point shot and free throws. The score deadlocked. After the pause, Chen Liming still felt good. He got another 10 points, so he has got 15 points in this section. Tian Qianli also gained. However, the College of Management also gained 6 points by free throws and attacks.At halftime, the score was 23:32 and we were 9 points behind.

After change of the fields, the Captain Chen Liming was still very spirited. He got another 6 points.  The gap became 7 points. Unexpectedly, the other team suddenly scored 9 points, making the gap to 12 points. Tian Qianli hit the basket to stabilize the situation. After three sessions, the score was 31:42 and our team was 11 points behind. Therefore, the situation is not optimistic.

At the beginning of the fourth session, our team scored two points, and 7 points behind. Subsequently, both sides stepped up the defensive game into nearly 4 minutes of "scoring drought,"and both sides did not gain. Finally our team got points and became 5 points behind. Then,when the remaining time was 1 minute 30 seconds, the International still seven points behind. Our team showed a tenacious style of play, and they began the final fierce counterattack. First, two points, followed by a life-saving 3 points by the Captain. The score was 45: 47! Auditorium has been boiling, seem to see the comeback hopes. The 23 player of the College of Management got 2 points by free throws to stabilize the morale of the troops, and ourteam attacks failed, so we decided to use foul tactics. The other team missed two free throws. In the last moment, Chen Liming, the captain, stayed calmly and gota three points foul. After got two points in the first two free throws, he deliberately missed the third penalty, letting Tian Qianli get the rebound. Tian Qianli passed it to the outside shooter.But unluckily, he did not score, so the final score was 46: 49,3 points behind. We won the second place.

Our Captain, Chen Liming, got the most scores---30 points, and other team members also fought to the last minute. They will perform well in the following SUPERBOWL Competition.
