The International College graduation ceremony, 2014 was held in the multi-functional hall in Kunluan Building on Xiang’an campus of Xiamen University on April 29. Many university leaders, college leaders, representatives of Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, representatives of Sino-foreign cooperation universities, college students and their parents attended this great ceremony.

The ceremony was hosted by Lv Zixuan the deputy dean of the International College. First of all, the dean of the International College professor Zheng Tongtao addressed all the meeting. He expressed warm welcome to all the guests, students and their parents. Then he reviewed the development of the college and appreciated the parents’ strong support, student’s great efforts and all the staff’s hard work in the nine years. Professor Zheng hoped that our students could go on working hard, pay attention to their behaviors and deal well with the interpersonal relationship during overseas study. Moreover, he told the students to often keep in touch with their parents.

Secondly, on behalf of all the representatives of Sino-foreign cooperation universities, Zhou Haiming coming from University of Hull gave a speech. She congratulated to all the students who had obtained the offer from overseas university and wished them to complete their overseas study successfully.

Next, the representatives of faculty and parents gave the speeches respectively. They put forward a lot of precious suggestions and sent their best wishes to the students. The student representative Xu Shanni showed her appreciation to the college and all the staff in her speech and set a goal for the future. To our joy, two graduates who have completed their abroad study came back to attend the ceremony and gave speeches. They are very excellent students. Both of them share their valuable experience of study and life in Britain with people on the ceremony.

Finally, the university and college leaders awarded the certifications to the students who are going to study abroad and had a group photo taken to mark the occasion.

This year there are more than 100 students who are admitted to foreign universities. Later they are going to UK, USA, Japan and Canada for further education. As for HND program, 94.74% students have passed the examinations of all the courses. For Bachelor of Art Design programme of University of Southampton and Sino-Japanese Bachelor programme, the students’ performance in the interview and scores in the exam are highly remarked by our cooperative universities. All the students in Master of Education programme of University of Southampton have passed the exams and are admitted to University of Southampton for further education.

The ceremony received strong support from the cooperatives universities, including The University of Northampton, Birmingham City University, University of Bradford, De Montfort University, University of Greenwich, University of Huddersfield, University of Hull, Middlesex University London, University of Salford, York St John University, and University of Central Lancashire. The representatives of these universities came to the ceremony to award letters of admission. Furthermore, staff of Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange provided consultation on overseas education for the students and parents.

Since the International College of Xiamen University was founded in the year 2005, there are over 1400 graduates who have been to UK, USA, Japan, Australia and Canada for further education. Some of them have got the master degree of world well-know universities. After completing the study, 700 graduates come back to work in state-owned business, banks and large companies.
