From January 20th to 21st, with the invitation from the overseas education school/International College, chairman and chief executive of Singapore and the United States investment co., LTD./chairman of the trade in China- Mr Cai Tianbao, visited our university. The President Zhu Chongshi met with the visiting guests, and discussed the cooperation and common development with the overseas Chinese in Singapore at the meeting.

The President Zhu generally introduced Xiamen university and the development of the status quo, particularly in the field of international education. President Zhu said, we are welcome Chairman Cai to visit our university and give valuable advice and support for development of our university’s construction.

Chairman Cai expressed deeply admire for more than 90 years' history and the tradition of Xiamen University. He said, hope that through this trip, it could deepen the understanding of Xiamen university, and promote the Singapore and China cultural exchange. During his visit, chairman Cai showed great concern for construction and the development of our campus, and was willing to provide support for the education development in the future.

At the end of 2012, institute of Xinqiao was supposed to be constructed by Overseas education school/International College. Since it was officially established in June of 2013, XinQiao institute attempted to carry out collaborative innovation, make use of characteristics and advantages of xinqiao on the issue of Chinese research in Singapore.

In December of last year, Dean of overseas education school/International College - professor Zheng Tongtao lead related Chinese experts and scholars to go to Singapore to visit Mr Cai Tianbo. The trip aimed at discussing Singapore overseas Chinese status and issues. Chairman Cai’s visit this time will further promote the cooperation between Singapore overseas Chinese, overseas education school/International College, and institute of Xinqiao.
