On 20th of December, senior lecturer Jennifer Robinson from the fashion design programme, Winchester School of Art, University of Southamptonvisited our college and gave a lecture to students in arts programme. In the morning, Robinson briefly introduced University of Southampton, the latest admission information and the academic and daily life of previous joint programme students in the UK. In the afternoon practice class, Robinson introduced to the students the basic knowledge of clothing design. It is scheduled that in January 2014, Robinson will give a two-week intensive practical course for the students in joint art programme.

The University of Southampton has a high standard of teaching and excellent facilities.The Art School, also known as the Winchester School of art, was founded in 1863. It is one of the most renowned and most ancient art schools in England, and it plays an essential role in the history of art education in the United Kingdom.

So far, the Winchester School of Art(WSA) has enjoyed a good reputation in the international community due to its excellent research and teaching abilities and innovative and dynamic courses. Besides, WSA is also an authorized training base for Apple Corp. It was also rated as ‘the most satisfactory ‘in art design courses in the 2005 UK university student survey. This year, WSA has become the most popular British art school for oversea students. Now there are over 1,400 students studying the bachelor, master or PhD degree in the arts, art design and textiles.

The International College of Xiamen University(IC) signed a cooperation agreement with WSA to enroll high school graduates with art talents in China in 2008. So far, IC has recruited students for WSA for six years with approximately 60 going abroad, over 20 furthering master degrees and about 35 still studying in IC.
