Recently, China Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) of the Ministry of Education issued the notice on the Establishment of the First Expert Committee of Study Abroad Training Program. Professor Tao, Dean of International College(IC), Xiamen University was appointed as a member of the First Expert Committee from December 15, 2022 to December 15, 2024.

The establishment of the Expert Committee of Study Abroad Training Program will further promote the high-quality development of study abroad training program, and is of great significance for colleges and universities to do a good job in standard formulation, quality assurance, brand building and teacher training.

Since its establishment in 2005, International College specializes in the study abroad education, and it is also the only study abroad training base in Fujian Province licensed by the CSCSE. Up to now, International College has trained nearly 6,000 international compound talents for national economic construction and social development. More than 93% of the students who completed the domestic stage of study successfully went abroad for further education and more than 70% of them continue to pursue the master's degrees in overseas prestigious universities after graduation. After 17 years of leapfrog development, the college adheres to the standardization of independent enrollment and on-campus schooling, and the scale of school operation and the quality of student training both rank in the forefront of similar institutions in China.

Professor Tao graduated from the famous Case Western Reserve University in the United States, and after completing his postdoctoral training at McGill University in Canada, he came to the School of Life Sciences of Xiamen University as a professor and doctoral supervisor in. From 2008 to 2017, he successively served as Deputy Dean and Executive Deputy Dean of the Graduate School of Xiamen University, and since November 2017, he has served as Dean of International College of Xiamen University. He has served as a member of China Higher Education Association, China Association of Academic Degree and Graduate Education, a member of Evaluation Committee of China Association for Academic Degree and Graduate Education, and an expert in the evaluation of Sino-foreign cooperative education program of the Ministry of Education. In 2022, Professor Tao was appointed by CSCSE of the Ministry of Education as the leader of the consultants of the British Higher National Diploma (HND) Programme and a member of the Expert Committee of the Study Abroad Training Program.
