In the morning of November 21, the college organized teaching staffs that have retired to pay a visit to the 6th session of Xiamen Garden Expo for the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up. The activity was aimed to enrich the mental and cultural life of the college staffs and foster the union of our Communist Party. More than thirty staffs have attended, including WANG Yi, secretary of the party committee of the college, DAI Yu, chairman of the labor union.

At 10:30, they entered the Garden Expo appreciating different kinds of chrysanthemums, some of which were brightly painted in various shapes, some of which were outstanding with charming appearance, even bees and birds were deeply attracted and danced across the ocean of flowers. The retired staff wandered in the garden enjoying the scenery along the way, although most of them had been long absent from work, what they cared about most was still the construction of the college. Time was dragging on and on here, and they continued talking about the latest development of the college.

After watching, they gathered for a tea break. During this period, WANG Xiangshan, the previous party branch secretary held a brief tea party. “This is the first time that college organizes group activity for retired faculty and staff. College leaders and unions keep making time for today’s event, though they are busy with college works, which demonstrates that college does attach great importance to the retired workers.” He said. And secretary WANG Yi extended her sincere thanks to retired faculty members for their positive response, and introduced the new chairman of the union---DAI Yu to the present staff. DAI Yu showed that the new commissioners would spare no effort to work hard and focus on development, never fail to live up to the expectations of the senior leaders and comrades sitting here. Meanwhile, she expected that they could care and support the works of labor union as they used to be.

(‘Cold flowers have done, chrysanthemum surplus alone branches.’) Chrysanthemum is one of the most traditional and famous flowers in China, it occupies an important position in the material and cultural life of Chinese people. Chrysanthemums symbolize purity and convey people’s good wishes for a long life. Our college is expected to send this message to every teacher, hoping these senior teachers become firmer and live a long life! Present teachers showed that they felt comfortable participating outdoor activities, and they were really appreciated for college’s concern.
The college has always attached great importance to retirement work, and will continue to innovate the retirement system, and enrich the forms of union activities. It’s really important to take good care of every old comrades who have contributed their light and heat to the construction of the college.
