The Forum of Outstanding Graduates of 2012 of International College (IC) was held in B102, Kunluan Building on May 22 at 19:30. Six outstanding graduates shared their experience with their junior schoolmates without reservation.

Liu Chang made her appearance first. Majored in Finance, she has won many scholarships from IC and has received offer from the University of Warwick. Once head of Academic Affairs Division under the College Student Association and leader of college debate team and interned in well-known enterprises, including AXA Group, Bank of Communications and Biden Consulting Company, Liu Chang offered two pieces of advice: first is gathering as much information as you can from teachers and fellow students to screen out those favorable for you; second is knowing about yourself, finding where your interests lie in through communication with classmates, debates or listening to lectures.

The second graduate came to the stage was Liu Yuan, GPA 3.7, Vice President of Xiang’an Sub-committee of the 45th XMU Student Committee,and winner of national scholarship, once interned in Bank of China and Investment Banking Division of CITIC and to-be student of Columbia University in the City of New York. He introduced MSF, MFE and MSQF in details and suggested that interests shall come first when choosing major.
Li Baiwen appeared after Liu Yuan. Winner of first-grade scholarship of the college, Li was once project manager of Enactus, interned in BDO and has received offer from LSE. Heexplained the application of structured thinking in CV preparation, interview and study. He exemplified the application of STAR Laws to win the attention of HRsin particular.
The forth graduate sharing experience was Meng Jie who received LSE offer, GPA 3.73, once core member of Enactus, interned in Deloitte, Guangzhou Securities, and Private Equity Investment Division of Shenzhen Leaguer. She shared about her personal experience during four years’ life in university before going on to explain her understanding about the significance of the following factors in applying English colleges: GPA>internship>activities, competitions, etc.

Next one was Chen Shuming who has received offer from Deloitte Xiamen, one of the Big 4 Accounting Firms. He has passed CFA LEVEL 2 Candidate test and once interned in HSBC. Being employed by one of the Big Four or Fortune Global500 companies is what many graduates dream for. Chen explained the specific processes of interview and his experience and recommended various channels for obtaining quality information on job vacancies.
The last one was Gao Jie, a going-to-be postgraduate student of Renmin University of China, GPA 3.66, winner of Wu Xuangong Research Scholarships and national scholarship. Gao made a spontaneous presentation about his experience of preparing for the National Postgraduate Admission Test.
After personal presentation, they answered questions raised on the WeChat platform. With prizes given out to reward the audience for their engagement, the Forum was brought to a successful end. As another graduation season is around the corner, we hope that through such activity, senior students can learn from the experience of outstanding graduates and fulfill their dreams more effectively.
