On May 20, 2016 at3:00 PM, a celebration ceremony for the engagement of Sanding Group CEO Qiu Hongbin as a visiting professor of Overseas Education College (OEC)/International College (IC) was held in A104, Kunluan Building, Xiang’an campus of Xiamen University (XMU). Zhuang Henghao, former Vice Director of the Standing Committeeof the People'sCongress of Xiamen City, Zhuang Shunmao, Standing Vice Chairman of Xiamen Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, Zeng Weidong, Deputy Secretary of Ganzhou Municipal Government, Jiangxi Province, Wang Zenghua, Chairman of Australia China Friendship Society, Huang Shourong, Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Xiamen Committee, Liao Shiyun, Chairman of Ganzhou Chamber of Commerce in Xiamen and other leaders from Xiamen Municipal Government, overseas Chinese leaders and entrepreneurs attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Wang Yi, Deputy Secretary of OEC/IC Party Committee.

During the ceremony, Huang Guanhua, Vice President of OEC/IC and Vice Chairwoman of XMU Overseas Chinese Association, congratulated Mr. Qiu for the engagement. She applauded Mr. Qiu for his generous donation of 300,000 RMB to OEC for use in the promotion of Chinese language. She stated that such philanthropic act willcertainly draw more support for the promotion of Chinese language education and the spread of Chinese culture from intellects.

Professor Zheng Tongtao, President of OEC/IC, went on to introduce the biography and contributions of Mr. Qiu and issued Letter of Engagement for him. He stated that, founded in 1956, OEC has been adhering to the philosophies of “openness, integration, innovation and win-win” during 60 years’ development. With approximately 60,000 graduates, it has established close exchange and cooperation with overseas Chinese and has connections all over the world. IC was established in 2005 with the purpose of facilitating the process for Chinese students who determine to study abroad. With courses in Finance, Accounting, Business Management and other majors of such category, the students are in great need of elites like Mr. Qiu to share with them the pathways to success and advise them on career selection. President Zheng wished that the engagement would act as a starting point of both parties’ cooperation and that Mr. Qiu could give lectures to students as frequently as possible.

Mr. Qiu expressed his gratitude for the recognition of XMU, OEC/IC and the faculties. He stated that it was a great honor to be engaged as a visiting professor and that he would share his own experience in order to help students broaden their perspectives. He also expressed his determination of promoting cooperation between university and enterprise and his best wishes for such cooperation.
