University of Central Lancashire visited and lectured to Hospitality Management students
On Dec. 14, 2015, Ms Louisa Jones, Senior Lecturer (Course Leader for BA(Hons) Top Up suite of programmes) from University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and Ms WEN Xiaorong, Student admission officer visited the International College and met the students of 2014 and 2013 classes of Hospitality Management.

Ms WEN first briefly introduced the location, facility, accommodation and enrollment of UCLan. Established in 1828 during the Industrial Revolution, UCLan is a public university with over one hundred year history in the UK, as well as one of the wealthiest British universities with top-ranking facilities and financial support. Being recognised of exceptional quality, the Hospitality and Tourism Management courses offered by UCLan are placed in Top 3 by Times in 2012. Students of the courses would be provided with internship or work opportunities in world-class hotels or tourism corporations, and the graduates are enjoying high employability more than 95%.
Ms Jones Louisa then provided a demo class of hospitality management. From opinions on everyday matters and real case studies, the teacher and students discussed differences between the cultures of China, UK, Japan, Europe and Africa, and Louisa also advised to be better aware of the culture shock and tolerance in working with students of different backgrounds. The topic was deepened with the further discussion on "whether courses and scores really matter individually". Students were given chances in viewing their opinions on sharing values and cultures differences, and presented gifts for their good participation.
Louisa finally showed some videos on student life at UCLan as to have more direct experiences for students in overseas learning.
