Professor Hedley Roberts from the University for the Creative Arts was  Invited to Give an Academic Lecture at IC, XMU

On the afternoon of March 18th, Professor Hedley Roberts, Dean of the Doctoral School and the School of Arts, Crafts and Photography at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), was invited to give a lecture entitled "Exploring the Intersection of Art, Artificial Intelligence and Academic Progress" for the teachers and students of International College(IC), Xiamen University (XMU). The lecture was presided over by Ms. Zeng Shufan, head of the Art Teaching and Research Group of IC.

In the lecture, Professor Hedley Roberts discussed in detail the development process, manifestations and relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and art, academia, and economics based on his own study experience at Central Saint Martins and Royal College of Art, his work experience in education and art, and his years of research experience in the internationalization of education. Through in-depth analysis of a number of interesting real-life business cases and sharing the application of ChatGPT in learning, he discussed with the students focused on how we should respond to emerging AI technologies in a creative and sincere way in the era of AI. He further pointed out that the era of  AI has arrived, AI will become more and more mature, and it will become more and more complex, and we should actively respond to the various opportunities and challenges it brings.

The lecture was profound with simple term, vivid and insightful, which benefited the students a lot. And it ended successfully in the relaxed and pleasant interaction between teachers and students.
