Recently, the 14th Campus Management Accounting Case Competition of the South China Region, hosted by the Institute of Management Accountants of the United States (IMA), came to a successful conclusion at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. A team consisting of three students,Cui Xinyi, Zhang Lingxu, and Li Yiqian, from the Business Accounting major of  International College(IC),Xiamen University(XMU), under the meticulous guidance of the professional teaching staff of IC, conducted a thorough analysis of the ESG case of Haier Home Appliances in English. They stood out among over 100 university teams from the South China region and won the third prize in the regional competition, adding a significant highlight to IC.

As the world's leading competition in the field of management accounting, the IMA Campus Management Accounting Case Competition has been introduced to China since 2009. It has attracted  over 800 universities and 27,000 students to participate, garnering attention from over 2 million people. It is one of the highest-standards and most influential competitions in the field of management accounting among domestic universities. This year's South China region covers multiple provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, and Fujian. The participating teams include strong rivals from "Double First-Class" universities and key financial colleges.

Behind the excellent results lies the all-round support from IC and the continuous efforts of the teachers and students. IC attaches great importance to this competition and has always insisted on integrating academic competitions with professional teaching. By organizing students to participate in high-level international events, it promotes the two-way empowerment of theoretical knowledge and practical application. During the preparation period, the guidance team composed of three teachers from the professional teaching group of IC -  Liu Jiali, Guo Wanfen, and Yang Shuai provided multi-round and detailed guidance on topics such as case selection, data analysis, English expression, and presentation skills. The teachers used their spare time to organize mock presentations and one-on-one revisions of speeches, and focused on core issues such as environmental management strategies and social value creation paths in the cases, guiding students to deeply analyze them based on international cutting-edge theories.

During the competition, in the presence of professional judges from both home and abroad as well as top university competitors, the three students, Cui Xinyi, Zhang Lingxu and Li Yiqian, remained calm and composed. They presented a systematic account of Haier Home Appliances' innovative practices in the areas of environment, society and governance in fluent English, with rigorous logic and unique insights, which fully demonstrated the solid professional foundation and international perspective of the students from IC, earning high praise from the judges.

This award is a vivid demonstration of the talent cultivation model of IC - "promoting learning and educating through competitions". In the future, IC will continue to leverage its international education advantages, improve the competition-based education system, provide students with more high-quality practical platforms, and strive tirelessly to cultivate high-quality talents who can meet the demands of global economic development.
