On January 16, over 40 teachers and students from Ronghuai Foreign Language School in Zhuji, Zhejiang, visited International College(IC), Xiamen University(XMU), located in Zhangzhou Campus for a one-day immersive experience. Representatives from IC and the Admissions Office warmly welcomed the visiting group. Through activities such as an English demonstration class, program presentations, campus tours, and a golf experience, the event served as a bridge for high school students to explore international education and experience university life.

The event began in the multifunctional conference room 101 of IC. Ms. Li Li from the English teaching group conducted an immersive demonstration class on the topic “Dining Etiquette.” A graduate in Applied Linguistics and English Education from the University of Leicester in the UK, Ms. Li has 26 years of teaching experience. Drawing on TESOL teaching principles, she employed scenario simulations and interactive Q&A sessions to vividly explain the differences between Chinese and Western dining etiquette, encouraging students to communicate in English. The class was dynamic and engaging, allowing students to practice their language skills while experiencing the interactive appeal of an international classroom.

Following the demonstration class, Ms. Shang Ying from the Admissions Office provided a comprehensive introduction to Xiamen University’s century-old educational heritage and the unique features of the International College. As the only overseas study training base in Fujian Province authorized by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE)，the college has established stable partnerships with prestigious universities in countries such as the UK, the US, and Australia. Its international undergraduate programs, characterized by “safety, affordability, and efficiency,” offer students diverse pathways for further education. Ms. Shang also addressed students' concerns, such as major selection and degree authentication, offering clear guidance for their academic planning.

During the subsequent campus tour, teachers and students strolled through Zhangzhou Campus, where lush greenery and blooming flowers mirrored the shimmering waters. The campus features architecture that blends Chinese and Western styles in the distinctive Jiageng tradition, alongside well-equipped sports facilities and functional venues. At the library, everyone immersed themselves in the vibrant academic atmosphere, envisioning their future studies amidst the world of books. At the golf course, students tried their hand at swinging under the guidance of coaches, experiencing the etiquette and joy inherent in the sport. For lunch, the group dined at the South District cafeteria, where a wide variety of delicious dishes, a clean and comfortable environment, and attentive service allowed the students to appreciate the joys of campus life.

This experience day not only provided teachers and students from Zhuji Ronghuai Foreign Language School with a firsthand look at the beautiful environment and comprehensive facilities of Xiamen University’s Zhangzhou Campus but also deepened their understanding of the International College’s international educational philosophy and cultivation model. The students expressed that the event broadened their horizons and strengthened their determination to pursue academic excellence and dream big on the global stage.
