IC Hosts 2026 International Women's Day Jewelry Appreciation Salon

On the afternoon of March 6, the International College(IC of Xiamen University(XMU) held a jewelry appreciation salon themed Blooming Youth, Embracing Beauty in Room 101, Building 4, Zhangzhou Campus, in celebration of the 116th International Women's Day. Organized to care for and enrich the cultural life of the college’s female faculty and staff, the salon was open to all female employees of the campus. Zhang Xiaoyun, Vice Dean of IC hosted the event.

At the beginning of the salon, Zhou Lei, Secretary of IC’s Party Committee, extended festive greetings to all female faculty and staff. She praised their dedication and outstanding contributions to the college’s development. She also hoped the salon would help them relax in the busy work and embrace work and life with grace.


Subsequently, the college leaders presented gifts to the female faculty and staff, extending the college’s warm care and festival greetings.


Later, the college specially invited Mr. Wang Zhendong, an English teacher of the college, FGA (Fellowship of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain) and coloured gemstone expert from Guild Gem Laboratories (USA), to deliver a wonderful lecture. Integrating mineralogy, history, culture and practical skills, Mr. Wang vividly introduced the appreciation of precious gemstones including rubies, sapphires and emeralds. He explained their identification in terms of colour, clarity, cut, carat and origin, and shared practical knowledge on jewellery wearing and maintenance.


During the interactive session, teachers actively engaged in discussions. Amid a relaxed atmosphere, they enjoyed tea and desserts, sharing insights on beauty and life while deepening friendship.


This salon fostered aesthetic education and conveyed sincere warmth, allowing faculty and staff to embrace festive joy and college care amid their daily work. Moving forward, the college will continue to host diverse cultural activities to enhance faculty and staff’s sense of fulfillment and well‑being, forge greater cohesion, and support the high-quality development of the college.
