On the afternoon of May 5, the Communist Youth League of Xiamen University commemorated the 100th anniversary of the May 4th Movement and the annual congress of the Communist Youth League was held in the Concert Hall of the Science and Art Center. General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech spirit in commemorating the 100th anniversary of the May 4th Movement was studied and implemented. The interpretation and inheritance of the May 4th Spirit by the youth of Xiamen University since the founding of the school were reviewed. The achievements of the League organizations at all levels of the school in recent years were fully affirmed, and the requirements for the future development of youth work in the school were put forward. The conference summarized the general situation of the work of the Communist Youth League in schools in 2018, and commended the outstanding collectives and individuals in the work of the Communist Youth League in the past year.

The League Committee of Overseas Education College/International College was awarded the title of May 4th Red Banner League Committee of Xiamen University in 2018. This is also the first time that the League Committee of our college has won this honor since its establishment in 2012. Zou Wenjing, a counselor of our college, won the title of Excellent Communist Youth League Cadre of Xiamen University in 2018.”

At the same time, according to the notice of May 4th commendation document issued by Xiamen Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, Jiang Yuta, Secretary of the League Committee of our college, was awarded the title of Excellent Communist Youth League Cadre of Xiamen City in 2018.”     

On the occasion of commemorating the 100th anniversary of the May 4th Movement, the League work of the College received many commendations, which not only fully affirmed the work of the Communist Youth League of our College, but also encouraged the League organizations and young people at all levels of the College.

In recent years, the League Committee of the College, under the leadership of the school, the Party Committee of the College and the correct guidance of the League Committee of the College, has been working hard to create a new situation in all aspects by focusing on the central task and serving the overall situation, focusing on educating and serving the youth as the starting point, organizing and building, voluntary service, social practice, innovation and entrepreneurship, campus activities and publicity and education. We have achieved fruitful results.

In the past year's work, the College Youth League Committee has adhered to its original intention, consolidated its organizational foundation, gathered young people, actively promoted the reform of the Communist Youth League, and focused on building a new pattern of one heart, two rings. Firm faith, set up lofty ideals to guide young people, conscientiously carry out thematic group courses, through online and offline education activities combined, with distinct thematic activities to brighten beliefs, with a variety of organizational forms to make education alive. We should resolutely shoulder the responsibility of forging young people in practical experience, steadfastly promote social practice, guide young students to take root in the land of China, understand the national conditions and conditions, and temper their will quality in practice. Adhering to the sentiment and using volunteer service to light up young people, we have refined, normalized and institutionalized the two volunteer service projects of Chinese Corner and Hand in Hand Dajun Middle School. Among them, the Chinese Corner project was awarded the Excellent Project Award for volunteer service of Xiamen University in 2018. At the same time, we have expanded volunteer service activities to overseas students and innovatively established an overseas volunteer service team. To excavate a group of outstanding overseas student volunteers. Adhere to self-confidence, educate young people with multi-cultures, and continue to carry out cultural activities such as International Youth Theory, China Cultural Festival, Water Lantern Festival, Water Sprinkling Festival, Mini World Expo, Sino-foreign Strong Voice Singing Competition, so as to promote the dissemination of excellent Chinese culture and promote the exchange and mutual learning of Chinese and foreign civilizations.

In addition, in this year's selection, the first group branch of accounting for undergraduate students of Dublin item in 2016 and the branch of postgraduate group in 2017 were awarded the title of May 4th Red Banner Branch of Xiamen University. Yang Dingxin, General Secretary of undergraduate group and Jiang Yue, General Secretary of postgraduate group, were awarded the title of Excellent League General Secretary of Xiamen University; Chen Yixuan and other three students were awarded the title of Excellent League Branch Secretary of Xiamen University. Twenty-five students such as Deng Bing were awarded the title of Excellent Communist Youth League Member of Xiamen University.

In commemorating the 100th anniversary of the May 4th Movement, General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that youth are the future of the country and the world.  Chinese dream is closely linked with the world dream, and the Chinese nation should make greater contributions to human society. In the new era, young people should have their own national feelings and human concern, carry forward the four seas and one family spirit advocated by Chinese culture, strive for the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and strive to promote the construction of the one belt and one road and promote the construction of the community of human destiny.

In the future, the College Youth League Committee will continuously advance the work efficiently by highlighting the young people’s growth and development, concentrating their strength and uniting them to make great progress in the field of innovation. Young people should bear in mind the mission of the times and establish a world vision. To realize Chinese dream, they take the responsibility for disseminating Chinese culture towards the world and promoting exchanges between China and foreign countries.
